Writing retreat with Jennifer Louden
We can be so blind to ourselves
New book “Why Bother? Discover the desire for what’s next”
The book I’ve been trying to write my whole career
Came into the world asking why aren’t we more alive?
We have signature themes and they hold some energy for us that we need to keep exploring
How can we be more alive? How can we let more life in?
Finding a spring to refill water
Desire is the spring we need to clean out and let it flow
I don’t want anyone to see me in the gray area so I rush to show that I learned from my failure
What do you want to bother about?
We are holding onto things that are done, hanging onto old images of ourselves, but we need to let go
Why are you giving up on good and rich and wonderful and your present self
Ease in! If you get quiet, realize that you matter, get some self compassion and some grit.
Get up on your skies the settle
Must have time to just be, it’s so obvious and so difficult for people to do.
When we can hang out and hold the tension of it, so much can get clear and grow roots we can gain faith in ourselves
Desire
Find ways to trust desire, back up your fears of desire and let desire enliven us.
The question of Why both is so normal!
Why bother is a way to keep us safe from having our hearts broken
Holding the ache and the humbleness
Life doesn’t give up on us
We have a strong negativity biases, so we need to flip it around a little bit and see that there is a lot of energy there.
Drop the self-cruelty
Gently say “What’s good here now?”
Energy comes from remembering that nothing is fixed.
Keep putting your attention on not trying to solve anything but on what is feeling good right now, what is beckoning me right now
Wonder opens the door to desire
Where can we get more curious in our own lives that would wake up that desire?
Where have you compared yourself to others or been envious?
Let wonder stir
Get your bother on
Get energy of becoming by doing
