The Books I read In 2024
2024 Books Read:
No particular order
This year I read more books than I ever had, a whopping total of 97, and I learned a few things. It turns out I really LOVE fantasy, and I don’t really like thrillers or books with crazy gotcha twists like in books like Girl on a train. I learned to not finish books I don’t like. Mostly of the books below if I finished it I liked it enough to mostly recommend it.

Fantasy:
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas: These are a series and I read the first 4 books. I really enjoyed the first two and only read the last two because I wanted to know what happened to the characters. In my opinion for what it’s worth in the last two books the author got lazy. Way too much sex not enough character development.

A Court of Silver and Flames by Sarah J. Maas
An Academy for Liars by Alexis Hendeson
A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher

When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill
The Witches of Holloway Road by Iris Beaglehole This Is the first book in a series by Iris Beaglehole, it’s like The Gilmore Girls meets Murder She Wrote meets The Good Witch. It’s lovely! I could not read these fast enough. The entire series is worth the read if you want something lovely.

The Library of The Unwritten #1 in Series by A.J. Hackwith: I enjoyed the first book in this series. I listened to it on Audible and loved the narator of the first book. When it got to the second book it was a different narrator and I had a really hard time warming up to the book. Not because the book wasn’t good or the narrator wasn’t good it just messed too much with the perception I already had of the characters.

The God of Lost Words #3 in Seriesby A.J. Hackwith
The Binding by Bridget Collins
Misplaced Magic by Jessica Dodge

The Forgotten Witch by Jessica Dodge
The Cemetery of Untold Stories by Julia Alvarez
A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St. Clair

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik: I really really enjoyed this book. I think because it made me re-thnk the tale of rumplestilskin and I always love a good female heroine.
The Measure by Nikki Erick: I could NOT stop thinking about this book after I read it. I really wished I had people I could talk to about this one. It was so good and thought provoking.
The Witch’s Daughter by Paula Brackston: I really enjoyed this book. I think there is a sequel but I only read the first book. I really enjoyed it.
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker: I LOVED this book. It was such an enchanting read. I highly recommend it. This book has a sequel too but I didn’t read it because I felt complete with this ending, but I may read the sequel in 2025.

In The Time of Butterflies: I loved her other book on this list (The Cemetery of Untold Stories) but I couldn’t get into this one.
Desert Creatures: I hated this. I got pretty far in, maybe half way in and just hated it. Nothing redeeming for me in this one.
The Parable of the Sower: I really wanted to like this. I know Octavia Butler is being hailed for this work. I just can’t get into it.
Pageboy: I wanted to like this just couldn’t get into it.
How to get things done: Such an outdated book that I just couldn’t get into plus the first 50 pages of the book are basically the author singing his own praises. I hated this book.
